THE FAILURE ( LOSE ) SYNDROME
10 points to watch out for after a defeat
1) When a fighter receives a loss they will feel low and the failure syndrome can be brought on.
2) This feeling is that they think they could have done better and that they have let the supporters down, it is also that they know that they are better but are afraid others will now right them off.
3) The three main elements that enhances the failure syndrome are the public, family and most of all friends.
4) They aid this feeling by bringing up your faults in the fight, trying to give you advice to help you be a better fighter, and most of all their look, their avoidance and their lack of knowing what to say.
5) The best approach is to highlight the best points and strengths of the fight.
6) A reminder that all the great fighters had to receive a loss to show their true greatness by coming back, but stronger.
7) If in a team event and the team has a loss and a win decision, it is wise to concentrate on the one that has lost. This should be done by the coach and closest training partners.
8) Never over crowd a fallen fighter, it should be only a few around them and that should be close family, friends or team mates.
9) At the earlier stages of receiving a loss it should be the team mates, but later it should be family or friends.
10) When a fighter seems quiet let them be, but when they decide to talk this should be encouraged to help them move on.
