Another new promotion joined the swelling ranks of British Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) events with the debut of the Cage Fight Series for a first show they put on a great night of entertainment at the Trinity Park complex in Ipswich, along with plenty of familiar faces. The fight card was a good mix of international combatants, with competitors from Ireland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Holland and the UK.

Topping the bill for the night were two well known club members, rising stars Ch'e Mills and Jake Byth, two of the best students out of Mark Weir's Mixed Martial school. This was another televised event which was lined up to be aired all over the world, to satisfy the growing interest and demand in Mixed Martial Arts shows.
Spain’s Vale Tudo practitioner Oriol Gaset Gimeno was completely out classed by a dangerous looking Che Mills. Looking very big for a welterweight Mill, showed great power totally controlling the clinch and landing damaging shots in close. As Gimeno tried to escape Mills’ dominant hold both fell awkwardly, allowing Mills to take his opponents back and sink in a rear naked choke in 1:22 seconds of the first round. Ch'e finds it hard to last past round 1 and hopes to gain more experience before hearding for the big shows.

In the last headling fight Paul Jenkins took on the young, undefeated Jake Blyth in a Middleweight contest. Aware of Jenkins’ hands of stone, Blyth got the take down from the clinch and kept the fight on the mat for the duration. Working into the mount and then side control Blyth began dropping nasty elbows as Jenkins tried to hold on. Using short elbows to the head and body shots Blyth controlled the round and cut Jenkins badly on the eyebrow and forehead to force the stoppage at the bell of the first round. Proving the experience of the Welshman was not intimidating, Blyth looked strong and explosive, employing a good game plan to take the victory convincingly.This now puts Jake amoung the elite of the sport, with 6 wins & no loses and aged only 21 year old.
