Mark Weir Vs Sol Gilbert Cage Rage British Middleweight Title Bout

Mark Weir and Sol Gilbert are two of England's biggest MMA heroes. Weir has been on the UK MMA scene for as long as it has been in existence. He has a sizzling MMA history and even enjoyed a spell in the UFC. Sol Gilbert is the young pretender to Weir's crown. Tipped by many as England's next massive star, Gilbert possesses skill and charisma in bucket loads.

In his pre-fight video address Weir said, "Sol, you know me, and I know you. I will see you in there." Weir was all too aware that Sol Gilbert will have watched every tape going on him, studying every move he made. In a masterful move of gamesmanship, Weir managed to polarise his usual fast and furious game plan, which put Gilbert off of his stride. Preferring not to stand with the former professional boxer, Weir spent a lot of time in Gilbert's guard landing crisp punches and elbows. There was more stand-up action in Round 2, but Weir's four inch height advantage kept much of Sol's offence at bay.

Sol soaked up a lot of punishment in Round Two and was ushered back to his corner where the ringside medics were waiting to check him over. After much deliberation between the cornermen and the medics the fight was stopped there.

Winner: Mark Weir - TKO (Corner Stoppage) Round 2 - 5:00
